Our silk can be exported to global markets.

In 2021, Azerbaijani silk may enter the markets of China, Italy, South Korea, and Japan.
This was stated to Trend by Ilham Bayramov, Director of the Production and Operations Department of Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation.
He noted that samples of Azerbaijani natural silk were sent to these countries in 2020, and export is planned to begin in 2021.
According to him, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the price of raw silk has sharply decreased: “In recent days, there has been some price increase, but the previous growth pace of the market has not yet been restored. Despite increasing competition, trade activity is limited due to the pandemic.”
I. Bayramov also stated that by September 2020, 11,580 kilograms of dry silkworm cocoons were exported to Turkey: “The total value of the products exported to Turkey amounted to 284,085 AZN.”
He emphasized that in accordance with “Azəripək” LLC’s marketing plan, samples of dry silkworm cocoons, raw silk, and silk fabric were sent to Russia, Ukraine, UAE, USA, Iran, Turkey, China, and Italy for promoting the enterprise’s products in foreign markets and facilitating their sale.
