Silkworm farmers in Balakan have obtained 931.5 kilograms of fresh silk from the second feeding of silkworms.

This year, in the main sericulture regions of our country, including Balakan, the second feeding of mulberry silkworms was conducted experimentally for the first time. For this purpose, at the end of August, 32 sericulturists in Balakan district received 80 incubated boxes, or 1520 grams, of silkworms from the Gakh Breeding Silk Station.
Shahin Rahimli, head of the crop sector of the Balakan State Agrarian Development Center, told AZERTAC that the feeding process of the silkworms has been completed and the Balakan sericulturists have so far delivered 931.5 kilograms of fresh cocoons to “Azeripek” LLC. Cocoon collection is still ongoing.
It should be noted that the main purpose of conducting the second feeding of mulberry silkworms in the sericulture regions is to create additional reserves to increase the production of fresh silk in the country.
