This was reported by “Azəripək” LLC. It was noted that the cost of raw silk produced in Azerbaijan is currently in line with world market prices. However, in 2020-2021, there was a decrease in raw silk purchases on the global market, and the number of buyers also declined.
Last year, the main product produced by Azəripək was raw silk. The company produced 24.8 tons of raw silk worth 1,748,540 AZN: “To increase raw silk production, production equipment for extracting raw silk from cocoons must be installed at the enterprise. Currently, work is planned to purchase and install new equipment to process the produced goods into fully finished products,” the company reported.
According to the information, in January-March of this year, Azəripək produced 7.3 tons of raw silk worth 493,211 AZN. During the same period, the company also produced 4.4 tons of cotton batting worth 208,293 AZN, 701 patterned kerchiefs worth 15,480 AZN, and 582 patterned chitmés worth 8,341 AZN. Additionally, 566 patterned scarves worth 8,948 AZN, 0.72 sq. meters of carpets worth 1,493 AZN, 612 kg of silk threads worth 37,654 AZN, and 114 kg of utok worth 9,119 AZN were produced.
Azəripək also reported that recent logistics issues between countries have not affected the company’s export or production processes.
